Audion

Under the Audion moniker, Detroit-based producer (and Ghostly International pioneer) Matthew Dear crafts tenaciously minimal tracks just begging for the dance floor. A Texan by birth, Dear uses his Audion outlet as an opportunity to explore the broad expanse that is minimal techno, punctuating the empty spaces with mechanical whirrs and electronic squeals that create a vortex of sorts, culling listeners from their wallflower posturing. The mop-y haired artist behind 2005’s Suckfish LP and 2006’s hit “Mouth to Mouth” is touring off a recent 12” release on Spectral Sound (Ghostly’s dance-oriented imprint), guaranteeing a set of new material, oddball tracks, and undiscovered gems. Prepare for the proverbial booty to be shaken.
