Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Craig Kuna has been involved with music from the start. Brought up on heavy metal, classic rock, and punk, he picked up guitar, bass, and drums, playing in local bands in his teens. He discovered dance music in the early ‘90s and was drawn towards more aggressive and edgy beats— namely, drum and bass and breaks, but soon found the sounds of techno. He started throwing parties ranging from intimate after-hours events to 3500-person warehouse raves, bringing in artists like Green Velvet and Marco Carola. In 2001, he moved to San Francisco and was inspired by the underground house scene there. He’s now a promoter/resident DJ of the widely respected [KONTROL] event, which brings first-class talent to the Bay Area every month. As a DJ, Craig taps into his diverse influences, allowing him to cover a lot of ground musically and play alongside a wide range of artists.
