The German definition of ‘house’ is a lot more open than Stateside, allowing for the occasional techno track to fit in nicely without being labeled “tech-house.” The key is setting the proper deep mood and keeping the sounds warm, something Berlin’s Dixon does easily. Resident at the legendary Tresor during the nineties, Dixon’s output was deeper than many of his contemporaries, leading him to hook up with the Sonar Kollektiv label before focusing his attention in recent years at Innervisions, home to European deep music contemporaries Âme and Henrik Schwarz, with whom he released the 2006 hit “Where We At.”
