Careen Ajar

Careen Ajar is is the AV identity of Naut Humon, Li Alin and Scott Arford from San Francisco and Montreal. What emanates from their voices and machines varies between "pop noir" moods to a more pronounced pulsating electronic racket amidst an ever changing visualistic backdrop.

Li Alin

Montreal-based singer/songwriter Li Alin has an eclectic background, to say the least: along with being an accomplished visual artist who designs the artwork for her own releases, Alin has also built mobile robotic sculptures and also created "virtual sperm banks" on the Internet. Her music also deals with the themes of reproduction, technology, and science fiction (as well as heartache, lust, and loneliness), but instead of expressing these ideas with strictly electronic music, Alin's work spans brooding, piano-driven torch songs to industrial-leaning dance music and synth-pop.

Naut Humon

Naut Humon has been the director of international operations for Recombinant Media Labs (RML) Asphodel Records, He and his associates created The Compound, assembling a recordingstudio and presentation space in their San Francisco warehouse. Here Rhythm & Noise was born, releasing several albums and touring North America during the 1980s. As noted in Research magazine, R&N ushered in the "rumblings, grit, and grime of the genre soon dubbed 'industrial.' For the remainder of the'80s, Humon and his cohorts remained active in the Bay Area, staging their configurations on bills with the Residents, Public Image Ltd and Einsturzende Neubauten." Pioneering industrialized and ambient electro-acoustic spectacle, Rhythm & Noise initiated development of Recombinant's core elements which experimented with a wide range of audience mobilization and extreme environments . RML in California s a research and development center for experiential engineering.
