Library Tapes discovers new sonic territory with each track, as David Wenngren wanders around his piano like a hatted man walking through tall fields of grass, searching for a beautiful home he knows he will never find. His music is haunted; the heart-pulling melodies are backed up with experimental field recordings that result in a sound catalyst for introspection. His mixes will simultaneously move you forward and backwards in time; you are a child sitting at your grandmother’s piano, but you are living the experience only as a time-traveler from a bleak future where everything is dark save a tiny pinpoint of hope. Library Tapes’ idea of ambient experimentalism is listener-oriented and takes all who hear him on a mind-ride, and his created soundscapes should be the new standard in this genre of music.
