Influenced by classical and electronic minimalism, Murcof works primarily with orchestral samples, processing the sound sources into new textures and fusing them with microscopic sounds and rhythms.
Murcof was founded early 2001 by only member Fernando Corona in Tijuana, México. This project is about experimenting with electronic and classical music in their more minimalistic expression, to bring face to face digital precision with acoustic warmth and try and find harmony and complementation between them.
In a way, a form of reflecting today’s digitalized way of interacting with the world, with each other and even ourselves; a reminder that, regardless of the means, the end user will always be human. And always approaching technology as a tool of expression rather than as an end in itself.
A true collision of beauty and music, the end result reveals lush layers of atmosphere and beat-driven landscapes – a multi-tonal palette that brings to life deep, grey worlds in which an introspective mood always pervades.
