Menami

Growing up outside St. Louis, Detroit, and New York City, Menami was exposed to a kaleidoscope of music ranging from country and western, soul and jazz, to psychedelic rock and classical music. Piano and oboe lessons in her childhood as well as a decade and a half in ballet helped to cement a lifelong appreciation of music, composition, and dance. Menami eventually wound up in Seattle and later stumbled upon the Shameless crew in 2004. Since then she has become a promoter, DJ and production manager for the Shameless collective, managing director of community dance party Broken Disco, and has recently begun branching out into artist management and booking. She enjoys and collects downtempo, techno, bass music, tech-house, ghetto tech, dirty club, electro and all-out party music. Menami sees music as a way to both bond and bridge social capital between people and values it as a necessary community good. This year marks her first time playing at Decibel after numerous years working behind the scenes at previous Decibel after parties and showcases. Shame off, game on. Simply Shameless.
