Founded in London in 2003, Hotflush Recordings quickly became synonymous with the sound that came to be known as dubstep. A UK underground movement that evolved from UK garage and draws influences from dub, breaks, reggae, grime, 2-step; dubstep took time to attract attention, but finally emerged from obscurity in 2006 and has since remorselessly expanded across the globe. Few labels have contributed more, not only to the inception of, but more importantly, to the intregrity of dubstep by keeping it underground and avoiding trends. Hotflush recording artists include Scuba, Joy Orbison, Mount Kimbie, Sigha, Sepalcure, George FitzGerald, Toasty, Untold, Pangaea, Jamie Vex’d, Boxcutter, Gravious, Vaccine, Elemental, Slaughter Mob, Nyabingi, Emi Ono, Search and Destroy, TRG & Dub U and Shackleton.

Headlining this label showcase will be label boss Paul Rose, aka Scuba, making his Northwest debut with a highly anticipated live set. Scuba’s 2010 full-length release Triangulation has emerged as one of the most critically acclaimed electronic music albums of the year. Scuba’s sound fuses traditional Jamacian dub with garage and techno to create something entirely unique and infectious. In addition to running the label and producing under multiple monikors, Rose runs the largest and most successful dubstep night on the planet in Berlin (Sub:stance at Berghain / Panaroma Bar) where Rose has resided since 2007.

Opening the night, London’s Untold will be making his Northwest debut. Known for his miminalist, heavily syncopated productions, Untold has effectively forged his own sound that has caught on internationally. In addition to running his Hemlock imprint, Untold has been busy remixing a wide variety of artists including the XX, Boys Noize, Ke$ha, Moderat, Milanese, Ramadanman and Roska.

Closing out the night will be another Northwest debut from the Brooklyn based duo Sepalcure (aka Machinedrum and Praveen), whose recent EP on Hotflush has gotten them international notority. Much like the music of DC’s Martyn, Sepalcure’s music combines elements of deep house, dub, 2-step and UK garage.
