Presented by Resident Advisor

Over the past 5 years the Dirty Dancing Showcases have featured some of the most revered underground dance acts on the planet, including Deadmau5, Speedy J and Green Velvet. For the final installment of Dirty Dancing, we’ll be hosting four techno pioneers from across the globe, three of which will be making their Northwest debut: Germany’s Wighnomy Brothers, Detroit’s minimal techno legend Robert Hood and Madrid’s Alex Under.

The Wighnomy Brothers, aka Robag Wruhme and Monkey Mafia, have been on an absolute tear for the past decade, delivering critically acclaimed remixes, original productions, DJ mixes and performances that have made them cult heros throughout the community. Their music combines soulful melody and vocals with driving rhythmic ingenuity. With widely popular releases/remixes on Get Physical, Kompakt, Soma, Bpitch, Mute and their own Freude am Tanzen imprint, the Wighnomy Brothers have become a household name in the underground dance scene.

Robert Hood, along with Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, founded the legendary Underground Resistance label in Detroit. Through over a dozen aliases/projects and releases under his own name, Robert became known as the original “Godfather of Minimal Techno”. His 1992 classic LP “Minimal Nation” is one of the most influential releases to come out of Detroit and is still heralded as a masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Robert’s recent resurgence, as evidenced by his 2008 Fabric Mix and recent reissues of his classic releases, have shed much light onto his illustrious and somewhat underrated career.

For the past 5 years Alex Under has become known in the underground community as one of the best live techno / tech house performers on the planet. His seamless mixing of latin percussion, driving rhythm and subtle melody have made in a favorite a festival’s like MUTEK and Movement, where he delivered arguably the best set of the weekend.

Setting the tone for the evening will be Thoughtless Music founder, producer and DJ extraordinaire Noah Pred from Toronto, who’ll be performing a live set.
