This year’s opening party features West Coast live debuts from two of electronic music’s most eccentric figures, neither of whom are content fitting into any definable category; the UK’s Zomby and Germany’s ATOM™. Kicking things off will be two of Seattle’s most respected and critically acclaimed producers, 214 and Jon McMillion.

Zomby is both a purist and a perfectionist. One of the most talented producers of a generation and someone capable of negotiating skilfully between genres, be it jungle, dubstep, rave, garage or whatever tag you want to put on it. Couple this with the numerous and incredible 12”s, EPs and remixes that have been aired over the past five years and it’s clear just why he’s built quite a heady reputation for himself. Uwe Schmidt (aka Atom Heart, Atom™, Señor Coconut; born August 27, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main, West Germany), is a German composer, musician andproducer ofelectronic music. He is often regarded as the father of electrolatino, electrogospel and aciton (acid-reggaeton) music.

Jon McMillion (aka “Wig Water Magic”) has been making electronic music for over an decade, always calling on a vast cache of sounds, styles, and techniques to flesh out his tripped-out aural sensibilities. One part dance floor enthusiast, one part reclusive studio sorcerer, McMillion’s music has incredible range; the propensity to be very warmly progressive or coldly back-alley and alien. To sit at a table set with the sounds of 214 is to be served Hungry-man portions of honey-buttered electro beats, side dishes of synth-line treats, and dollops of IDM-get-down. Like most musicians, Chris Roman’s path is rooted in a veritable melting pot of sounds. Some of the influences are obvious, while others…not so much so.
