Over the past four years, no other events have inspired as much excitement, comrodery and dancing as the dB Afterhours. Last year’s afterhours sets by Move D, Martyn, Bruno Pronsato, Holger Zilske and Voodeux where continually sited as highlights by Decibel Festival regulars. This year we’re following up a successful formula with two nights of world class deep house and tech house, both happening at a downtown warehouse venue equiped with the finest sound the festival has to offer (KV2 Audio courtesy of Starborne Productions).
Kicking off Friday’s “Mi Casa es su Casa” afterhours will be Seattle house legends The LawnChair Generals, who have been busy preparing their WORLD DEBUT LIVE SET for this year’s program. Known for the infectious melodies, vocal harmonies and exceptional production, Carlos Mendoza and Peter Christianson have been touring the world over and releasing quality house music over the past decade. 2010 marks the duos 10 year anniversary.
The Polish dou Catz ‘n Dogz have been on an absolute tare since changing up their more techno-oriented sound in 2007 (i.e. 3 Channels). As Catz ‘n Dogz, Grzegorz and Wojciech have been exploring Latin rhythm, vocals, melodic bass lines and chord stabs remeniscent of the glory days of 90s deep house. As prolific as they are talented, they have released an impressive 10 EPs, two LPs and 14 remixes over the past three years. Catz ‘n Dogz will be performing a highly anticipated live set (West Coast debut).
Chilean born Dinky has had quite an illustrious career since her first release in 2000. Her discography reads as a who’s who of tech house labels over the past decade (Wagon Repair, Vakant, Cocoon, BPitch Control, Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, Traum Schallplatten). As a DJ, Dinky is one of the most accomplished and highly regarding in all of Berlin, where she currently holds a residency at the infamous Berghain/Panorambar. Her most recent releases and mix CDs for Wagon Repair and Cocoon deftly surf the line between deep house and Latin influenced tech house. Dinky will be making her long awaited Seattle debut for Decibel this year.
