Recombinant Media Labs / Grey Area Foundations for the Arts
For more than a decade, Oakland CA. based sound and media artist, curator, organizer, and producer Tana Sprague has dedicated her time and energy to exploring and facilitating open-ended possibilities for creative exchange. She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts from UCSD, and an MFA in Electronic Music & Recording Media from Mills College. With a growing discography of sound releases, she has performed and/or exhibited work at the Biennial of the Americas, Seattle’s Decibel Festival, the Mutek A/Vision program at Communikey Festival, Soundwave Festival, and the Interferenze Festival (Italy).
From 2004 until May of 2010 Tana worked alongside Recombinant Media Labs’ (RML) founder and Director Naut Humon; performing various roles including r&d intern, performance systems specialist, production manager, audio-visual engineer, event coordinator, international partnership liaison (ICAS network), and most recently as Associate Director. From May 2009 until July 2010, she served as the Director of Operations at Gray Area Foundation for the Arts (GAFFTA), establishing the infrastructure to support Gray Area’s ongoing projects and public programs.
Tana recently Co-Founded Liminal Space, an organization that represents the convergence and culmination of these experiences, propelled ever forward by carefully seeking and illuminating each foothold in the precarious process of revealing the unknown.
